Any Dog Can Be A Pet... A Boxer Is Family

Faith

»continued from Home

Heidi continued to put on weight and thrive in her foster home. Her puppies were growing by the day and she was a very good mother. When the puppies were two weeks old a wonderful couple by the name of Chad and Christina submitted an adoption application for Heidi, then known as Faith.

They were everything and more than we could have possibly asked for in a potential new boxer family. They were aware that Heidi would not be able to join her new family for four weeks but that did not deter them from wanting to add Heidi to their family. They came to visit Heidi and her babies and fell in love with her.

They continued to keep in contact for the next month. Often sending emails asking how Heidi was doing and if she needed anything. After the puppies were weaned Heidi was able to receive her shots and other follow-up care. When she went in for her spay the snap test determined that Heidi had a low positive for heartworms. This was yet another strike for this girl and we let Chad and Christina know that she was heartworm positive. They were very concerned for Heidi but again they did not sway in their decision to adopt her. We talked about the treatment and made a treatment plan for Heidi.

Finally Heidi was in her forever home and receiving the devoted attention that she always deserved. Heidi's family continues to keep in contact with RDBR and we are very ecstatic that she has found her place.

A letter from Heidi's new mom:

Heidi a.k.a. Faith is doing great! (we decided to call her Heidi ("Hides, Heidi-ho, and Sweet baby" for short) because she loves to "hide" her head under our arms and snuggle when we lay down to rest). We love her so much and could not ask for a better dog! She is great to walk, very easy going, and is a sweet baby! I say baby because she still acts like a puppy. Thank goodness we still had a huge box of toys left over from when Em and Peeps were puppies. Emma (Em) and Penelope (Peeps, Peepers) have adjusted to her, and, in fact, Penelope and Heidi play often...it is quite comical to watch them. You wouldn't believe how much weight she has gained in the past two weeks! We put her on a Nutro brand diet our vet recommended, and it is nice to see her filling out and her ribs disappear! Thanks again for everything and making her a part of our lives!
