How To

Owner Surrender
I am sure it is with a heavy heart, that you must give up your beloved boxer. At Red Dirt Boxer Rescue, we realize that sometimes life takes us in a way we don't always want to go, forcing us to give up things we love. We will do everything we can to help place your pet in a home as loving as yours. Please understand, that this does not always mean we can take in you boxer immediately. Since we only have foster homes, every owner surrender we take in is one less shelter dog we can take. We realize that emergency situations do occur, and we will do our best to bring those dogs in as quickly as possible. Typically what happens, is we ask you to send us pics of your boxer, along with all the information you can tell us about him/her. The good, the bad, and the ugly. We need to know everything about your dog. We will place your pet on our website, and begin reviewing applications for him. We will take care of all the screening of applicants. Once we have found a match for you, we will contact you to set up a meeting. We will then make sure your dog has been spayed/neutered, current on all shots, and heartworm tested. Your surrender fee helps compensate us for these fees. We will work as hard and as quickly as we can to find your dog a home. Finding your dog a new home does take time, do not wait until the last possible second to ask for help. This could lead to your dog not being able to be placed with us. Please consider donating your crate and no longer needed dog supplies. These are things our rescue desperately needs.
NOTE:
RDBR will not take any dog that is aggressive towards humans ( nervousness around small children is not considered aggressive behavior, unless biting has occurred). We can not in good conscious place a dog in a home where he/she could hurt someone. Please DO NOT hide your dogs aggressive behavior from us. If you are worried your dog is going to hurt your child, then don't send him into a home to hurt another child. If you have an aggressive dog, contact us and we can discuss some options you may have.
If You Are Considering Surrendering Your Boxer:
Make sure you have exercised all options, health, behaviors, etc.
If you would like to discuss this decision with a volunteer please email Surrender@RedDirtBoxerRescue.com. We may be able to assist you with dealing with the problem at hand as opposed to giving up your boxer.
- Please fill out an Owner Surrender Form below. It is in a number of formats for you convenience. You only need to fill out one. Our form asks a lot of very important and detailed questions concerning your dogs physical description, health and behavior. It gives us the ability to place your dog successfully into a well suited home.
- If you have a digital camera and can email pictures along with the completed form please do, it will help expedite the process.
- You will be asked to supply all of your dogs veterinary records. So please gather this information ASAP.
- A Surrender fee of $50. must be collected prior to your dog going live on our website. This fee is non-refundable. If you choose to keep said dog or you find the dog a home on your own, the surrender fee will not be returned as RDBR puts many hours into adding your dog to our website on top of all that is involved with finding a rescue dog a forever home.
