Wyatt Roger
We adopted Wyatt from Red Dirt Boxer Rescue in 2017. As a puppy he wanted to be a hip baby and cuddle and spend all his time with his mom. He was very submissive to the point of wetting the floor if you looked at him cross eyed. Due to the submissive behavior we took him to training and found him not ready for such a large group and progressed him to a smaller class where he could be more comfortable. He understands hand signals and voice commands; downs are still hard, but he just needs more practice. Also gave him weekly one on one training as well with a trainer to help with his submissive behavior.
He never completely adjusted to being around new people, he likes people but is always very skiddish around new people especially men. He never exhibited any very aggressive behavior, but after our son was born we noticed a shift. He started to herd or run off our Boston Terrier any time he came near our son. Just more posturing, no growling or snapping. As our son as gotten older and interacts with Wyatt more we have notice him grumbling and growling and making one snap at our son while chewing on a toy or getting too close to the alpha of the pack our pug. Over the last year Wyatt has shown more aggression to the 12yo Boston terrier when they are outside together. He will jump the Boston or run over him while they are outside or getting ready to come in. We have tried more training and sent him to a two week boot camp for intensive corrective training. Where they said he did not exhibit any sort of aggressive behavior towards other dogs or trainers. We want Wyatt to have a fulfilled life and not one of being segregated part of the day to make sure he can’t interact with our older Boston and son, just as much for his safety as anyone else’s.
He just needs someone to take a chance on him and he would make a wonderful pet in a house where he is the only dog with older children and gets all the attention.
